From your Mother…With Love

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Today is my daughter’s wedding day…” It’s unbelievable that a simple phrase like this can hold so much meaning that it can well up tears in any mother’s eyes. To a mother, her baby girl will always be… well, her baby girl. Where each small step taken with tiny feet and every grin & giggle is cherished deep in her heart. The first time she lifted her little fingers to pick up a snack, the first time she ate a cookie and even the first day of school… would seem like just yesterday.

With a bond so strong and powerful, where a child wouldn’t need to convey a tummy ache in words and mama knows… wouldn’t need to say she fell in love, and mama knows… Wouldn’t need to spell out she found the “one” and have decided to get married… coz mommy knows. Now that the day is here, what mommy doesn’t know is how to feel as she is astounded with both joy and ache. This is the big step, the leap from mama’s arms to another and a regular wedding gift just wouldn’t do. Something to cherish for life, something that’ll always be close to her, as how mama has always been, something with subtle reminders of the treasured beautiful moments, something like this charm bracelet with small picture frames. May you always have this around your wrist and remember that your mother is not far away. May you always have something to jingle and make you smile, even when you’re having a bad day. And in future, when you have your own baby girl… May you remember to cherish her, as much as mama cherished you……

Racing and Friendship

Carl Edwards Nascar Steak Branding Iron

It all started with my dad reminiscing about his good old days as a racer. His face always seems to beam with red flushes every now and then whenever he speaks of his past. He was one hell of a racer and was worshipped by his fellow buddies. They had a small friendly gang of their own and often related themselves as the “fast and furious” and devoted themselves to Carl Edwards. As all happy dreams come to an end when we wake up, childhood memories fly past us as we grow up. That’s exactly what happened to my father! When I saw this Carl Edwards Nascar Steak Brand, a brilliant idea popped up in my head. Within days I made my thoughts real and organized a fun-boosting barbecue party. I called up all his old friends, heated up the barbecue, stored a cooler with chilled beer and put a chef’s hat on my dad’s head. I would never forget his face as he branded each sizzling steak with his brand new gift. To make it more memorable, I had arranged for leather binders branded proudly by this NASCAR Steak Brand and my dad wrote a small note for each friend. Tears of joy highlighted that day and I was so glad I could reignite my dad’s memory of racing and brotherhood!

Art of shaving Travel Kit - lemon

Calling for passengers flying Thai airways flight 867 to Bangkok; please board to gate 5 for departure” the familiar speaker sound at the airport gave me a jolt back to reality from my deep sleep at the lounge. After the 2 hours delay, I was not only jet lagged but feeling sticky and warm due to the humid air. A glass of fresh yellow lemonade on the table next to me reminded me of my precious belonging stuffed in my bag. I checked my watch; I still had a good half an hour to departure. Rushing to the nearest restroom, I found an empty spot and dumped my bag there, splashing my face with the cooling water. I took out my “Fusion Travel Art of Shaving Kit ” and started my “mini spa”. With the Lemon zest, I was refreshed in no time. Hair gelled back, my face became sparkling clean and I smelled like I just immersed myself in lemongrass tea. I walked confidently towards the boarding room and the aircraft, catching the teething smiles I was getting on my way. C45 was my seat number and I was happy to see a beautiful woman with dark glasses and red lips seated next to me. “Whew… Thank God I had my travel kit with me!” I smiled and gave her my hand!
