Tribute to the Wild West

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Well, there just ain’t no talkin’ about the Ol’ West, without hundreds, no thousands of saloons of the American West. The very term “saloon” itself, conjures up an image of an Old West Saloon , complete with a wooden false front, a wide boardwalk flanking the dusty street, a couple of hitchin’ posts, and the always present swinging doors. I remember the classic saloon scene with Clint Eastwood and the Will Smith movie Wild Wild West . And the West was notorious, I mean real bad, Billy the Kid elevated bad and notorious to new levels.
A dancehall or Saloon girl’s job was to brighten the evenings of the many lonely men of the western towns. Our personalized saloon pub sign is a tribute to the vivacious ladies of the Ol’ West!

Penguin support

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

With  global warming   and the ice caps melting , there is newly infused enthusiasm to save the planet . I was watching a show on National Geographic on the Antarctic wildlife the other night and realized that things are moving faster than we think, and that from the polar bear to the emperor penguins - gorgeous animals and birds are close to the point of extinction! Anyone who has seen the March of the Penguins would agree with me. We need to play our part and show support to this global cause.
We could start by teaching our kids simple things like recycling , saving energy, switching to renewable energy sources, and reducing our carbon footprint.
I am an avid lover of the wild – and will not hesitate to educate my colleages and show support. I gave my brother a Penguin Stud Set on his wedding day. Is there a better way to make an environmentally friendly statement on the most important issue on the most important day of your life!

Congratulations to our Navy Seals!

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Our Navy Seals have done us proud. Congratulations to the awesome movie like ending to the pirate saga. U.S. Navy snipers fatally shot three pirates holding an American cargo-ship captain hostage after seeing that one of the pirates “had an AK-47 leveled at the captain’s back,”. This is a bright spot and a feather in our cap, a real feel good piece of news in the otherwise depressing time. Our Navy does us proud!

My nephew is in the Navy on one of the aircraft carriers that sails the Pacific- the USS Nimitz . He is a good kid and I remember giving him an Army Knife for his graduation that he still carries with him. Sort of like a good luck charm! Hooray for the
US Navy !

Golf for the Masters

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

With the golf season underway, and Tiger Woods back in the game stronger than ever at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week, all eyes are set on the Augusta Masters. The Augusta National is finally coming up the with perfect formula for record scoring and a slew of birdies warm sunshine and only a gentle breeze, along with inviting hole locations and greens that were soft and smooth. This after all the hue and cry of how high scoring this course has become.
In the spirit of golf, a perfect groomsmen gift would be the golf clubs and ball cufflinks in support of all our golf heroes! I have a pair of golf bag cufflinks myself that I wear to work though I rather be on the green( actually my clubs are permanently in my car!). Now for all those corporate guys who have their own office, maybe a putter set would be a great way to ease in and get yourself invited for a round of golf!Golf clubs and ball cufflinks

Want to store your CIGARS? Have a good “SENSE OF HUMIDOR”

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Mark Twain once said, “If I cannot smoke in heaven, then I shall not go” . It takes more than a puff to savor a real good Cuban. From macho man Clint Eastwood in For a Few Dollars More to the sexy Demi Moore front cover , cigars are something to be romanced, savored and enjoyed.
But knowing how to keep a good cigar so that it lasts is an art form. Stories of cigars and cigar holding men and women conjure up a sense of luxury and history.

Cherry Wood Humidor

Aging is one of the most crucial aspects of a cigar’s flavor and aroma. All premium cigars are “aged” for about 6-8 weeks so they can dry properly and mature, which also affects their burn and draw. But by letting your new cigars “age-up” in your humidor, you can actually enhance their body and character.
The Cherry Wood Humidor is a high quality but affordable humidor for a groomsmen gift, best man or father’s day gift. Long-term aging under the “ideal 70/70″ conditions (70 degrees temp/70% humidity) will, allow the cigars to age gracefully, which can often help you better appreciate the “complexity” and subtleties of the cigar’s particular blend. You can order your own personalized humidor at

A knife to remember

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

With spring around the corner, I got a call from my “fishbuds”- my fishing buddies that is to go out on a fishing trip. Nothing like the smell of spring, lakes thawed out up here in the midwest and the crisp sunshine to warm up those winter bones. So we did make it out – us guys – and caught a few bluegill and perch. My buddy caught a pretty good sized crappie.
And you may then ask, but will answer first…of course we cook what we catch! I used my new Yukon lock back knife, showed my own initials off to them to clean ‘em fish and I have a great recipe for grilled bluegill. Wow, cant wait to get out again. Btw, if you want that knife too, check it out right here.
