Summer is upon us in full swing and weddings are happening all over town! The other day I was at Central Park and and just people watching. Its something real fun to do in New York, pick up a bagged lunch and head on out to the grass and soak in the sun and the sounds. Its always nice to see young people getting to know each other, and allowing “nature” to take its course.
Some had taken the lunch hour to come out, others had a picnic basket all planned out, with all its trimmings. They even had their own personalized koozies, black for the guy and pink for the gal. Real cute- I mean the koozies that is! Wow, its nice to know that people still have the time despite having rushed jobs. Its nice to just smell the roses once in a while.

With summer around the corner, the aroma of barbecues firing up around the neighborhood and pool parties on every block bring people out of their cold wintery mood. We guys in our neighborhood take turns grilling on the weekends in our outdoor kitchens, grilling everything from burgers to ribs with everyone making their own secret recipe marinade. Weddings seem to be a lot more fun in the outdoors and tend to make young groomsmen and bridesmaids flirt more! My brother surprised us with our own personalized steak branding irons as groomsmen gifts which was a cool thought. Nothing like a well done steak branded with your initials to woo the ladies- unless of course you’re not sure of your grilling!

With spring around the corner, I got a call from my “fishbuds”- my fishing buddies that is to go out on a fishing trip. Nothing like the smell of spring, lakes thawed out up here in the midwest and the crisp sunshine to warm up those winter bones. So we did make it out - us guys - and caught a few bluegill and perch. My buddy caught a pretty good sized crappie.
And you may then ask, but will answer first…of course we cook what we catch! I used my new Yukon lock back knife, showed my own initials off to them to clean ‘em fish and I have a great recipe for grilled bluegill. Wow, cant wait to get out again.
